This position is responsible for general accounting functions that include journal entries, account reconciliations, assistance with month end close, payroll, compliance, tax, payables, and receivables.

Essential Functions

General Accounting functions:

· Reconciliation of the general ledger

· Preparation of accrual information

· Prepares and records monthly journal entries in ERP system

· Prepares and assists with payroll processing and reconciliation

· Assists accounting personnel in handling advanced transactions

· Documents procedures and assists with development of training materials as needed

Reporting and Analysis:

· Prepares required financial statements and reports

· Performs account analysis

Client and Vendor Compliance/Risk Management:

· Interprets and prepares documentation for vendors

· Coordinates and ensures timely completion of all required compliance documents

· Scans and uploads all contracts and state documentation for record retention

Accounts Payable:

· Control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices

· Maintain/communicate with vendors and departments to ensure accurate payments to all vendors

· Process disbursements to vendors based on reconciliation of invoices/purchase orders and receiving documents

· Prepare remittance information to be mailed with the checks

Accounts Receivable:

· Post revenue by verifying and entering transactions

· Verifies validity of discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales and customer service departments

· Resolves valid or invalid deductions creating and applying credit memos

· Sends invoices and monthly statements to customers with all documentation required

· Maintains A/R Aging notes & follows up on outstanding A/R

Cash Handling:

· Posts customer payments by recording checks and credit card transactions

· Conducts credit card transactions with customers and provides receipt

· Performs or reviews transactions such as refunds, voids, or write-off’s

· Submits/records deposit information through deposit system saving supporting documentation and transaction details report

Automated Information Systems:

· Assists with system implementations & automation/streamlining of processes

· Provide expertise and value add as a “power” user of accounting system with goal of creating efficiencies

· Provide connection between Salesforce & Accounting Seed with goal to improve workflow and processes

Tax Compliance:

· Assist with year-end tax supporting schedules

· Monitor and prepare timely submission of tax payments throughout year

· The position is responsible for guiding and mentoring college interns and accounting assistants

Education and/or Experience:

· Two or more years of general accounting/bookkeeping experience

· Completion of associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting but will consider experience

· Working knowledge of accounting systems, Excel, Microsoft Office

· Previous public accounting experience preferred

· Exposure to tax returns and other government compliance requirements preferred

· Strong analytical skill and reasoning abilities

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others required

Supervisory Responsibility: N/A

Language Skills:

· Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently

· Spanish communication skills preferred

Mathematical Skills:

· Must comprehend general arithmetical functions

Computer Skills:

· Proficiency with computers and software that include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote, other ERP/CRM software and systems

· Ability to work with communication tools including printers, copiers, and other related office machinery

Physical Requirements:

· The Staff Accountant will spend the workday sitting or standing and using office equipment and computers

· This position will perform occasional lifting of supplies and materials of up to 25 lbs.

Environmental Conditions:

The Staff Accountant is in an office. The incumbent may be faced with consistent interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis

Sensory Demands:

The Staff Accountant may spend most of the workday engaged in projects that require concentration in an environment with moderate noise levels within office.

Mental Demands:

There is an expected level of stress that results from competing deadlines and various needs from the staff.

FLSA Status:

Non-Exempt

Schedule of Work:

The work week typically consists of an 8-hour day from Monday through Friday, beginning anywhere between 7:00 am and 9:00 am, and ending after 8 hours of work. The position may include overtime as needed.

Compensation:

· Commensurate with experience
